Description
Macadamia integrifolia
Growing in Phoenix: Imagine being able to tell your friends you have a macadamia tree growing in your Phoenix garden! Macadamias are indigenous to Australia and are related to proteas. The leaves are glossy and resemble holly. It is an evergreen tree with flowers ranging from pink to white. The tree produced large nuts with rich sweet buttery flesh encased in a very hard shell. Macadamia trees will grow well in Phoenix, but they are thirst trees and need regular deep watering. It is heat tolerant, but protect it in the first year of growing. In winter protect if temperatures are in the mid-’30s. Suitable for growing in a large container 30-gallon or larger.
See the planting and care guide page for planting and watering instructions.
