Description
Solandra maxima, also known as cup of gold vine, golden chalice vine, or Hawaiian lily, is a vigorous vine which is endemic to Mexico and Central America. It has very large yellow flowers and glossy leaves.
Growing in Phoenix: A very attractive twining vine with deep glossy green foliage and large butter-yellow flowers. It requires room to spread and a sturdy structure for support. The flowers have a scent similar to bananas. Like many vines, it likes a dappled shade when young and prefers to grow into the sun, while the lower part of the vine is still shaded. Requires a soil pH of 6. Suitable for container growing.
