Annona X atemoya
This is a cross between cherimoya and sugar apple. Round to heart-shaped fruit is 8-12 inches long with a pale blue-green skin that ripens to yellow. It has snow-white flesh with several large black seeds. It has the texture of a firm custard with some grittiness. Notes of pineapple and vanilla, balanced with some acidity. Eat chilled direct out of the skin with a spoon.
Atemoya will need dappled shade all day or afternoon shade. It needs a slightly acidic pH(6) and is the most cold-hardy of the Annona family fruit. Winter protection when temperatures are below 30℉. Trees do not defoliate in winter. Atemoya must be hand-pollinated for a good fruit set.
Suitable for container growing, use a 30-gallon or larger pot.
Fruiting Age: Will fruit at 2-3 years of age
