Growing in Phoenix: The “Tree of Awakening” is a sacred tree in the fig tree family. Buddha is said to have obtained spiritual enlightenment under the Bodhi tree. It is recognizable by its heart-shaped leaves which are a food source for the Indian elephant. It has a beautiful canopy and can grow quite large. Buddhist Temples around the Phoenix area all have gorgeous Bodhi trees growing.

 It requires little care. Deep and frequent watering is essential, it is not cold sensitive. Treat like a mulberry tree. Not suitable for container growing.
