Description
Sambucus Mexicana/ cerulea
Growing in Phoenix: Native to the South-Western region of the United States. Also known as Tapiro. It is a fast-growing, shrub tolerant of several climates and moisture levels once established. Flowers are white, cream or purple. In the wild, it can often be found growing in areas of chaparral, sage scrub, grassland, and riparian areas. It flowers from May to September and fruits from June through October. It can reach 20 ft tall. Easy to grow in Phoenix and will grow in full sun or partial shade. Tolerant of native clay soils. Water deeply, and frequently as they are shallow-rooted plants. No protection is needed in winter.
Can be grown in a large container of 50 gallons in size.
