Description
Jacaranda mimosifolia
Growing in Phoenix: This Brazilian native is coveted for its mass of purple blooms. The blossoms are tubular and hang in large clusters. As the petals fall, the base of the tree is carpeted in lavender. It has fern-like foliage that enhances its beauty. The biggest issue growing Jacaranda in Phoenix is not watering them enough. They are thirst trees and benefit from deep soaking, they cannot be overwatered. If well watered they will bloom better. They need well-draining soil with a neutral to slightly acidic pH.
Not suitable for container growing.
See the planting and care guide page for planting and watering instructions.
