Although it is grown for its ornamental beauty, red button is an edible ginger variety, including the leaves and flowers. The leaves are glossy green and the plant sends up ruby red spiked cones with orange flowers. Attracts hummingbirds and pollinators. Grow in dappled shade. It will grow well in a container or in-ground. needs a well-draining soil rich in organic matter with a soil pH ranging from 5.5-6.5. Ginger can be harvested 10 months after planting. Protect below 55 degrees.
