Description
Syzygium jambos
Growing in Phoenix: Closely related to the Malay apple. The fruit of the Malay apple is slightly larger than the rose apple. The shape of the fruit is reminiscent of both apples and cashew fruit. Rose apples have soft skin with a crispy juicy interior. They like the same conditions as mango trees. Provide a filtered light all day, or afternoon shade. Soil pH should be maintained at 6 and regular applications of soil sulfur, chelated iron, and chelated manganese are required. In winter, protect below 30. It can be container grown.
